Customer screen
A screen facing the customer at the cash desk or the entrance, with the order, the total and the tickets' QR.
The customer screen sits on the counter, facing whoever pays. While the cashier builds the order it shows the items and the total, then the cash received and the change, and at the end the QR that puts the tickets on the customer's phone. The cashier no longer turns their own screen around.
It works with the Cash desk and with an Entrance station (see One person at the door). Connect it from the station with Customer screen, at the top next to the connection status: on a tablet or a phone it is only the icon of a monitor with a phone. No settings, and no account on the screen.
With a second monitor on the same computer
- Plug the monitor into the cash desk's computer and turn it towards the customer.
- On the cash desk press Customer screen, then On this computer. An iPad or a phone does not offer it: they have no second monitor.
- In Chrome and Edge the browser asks for permission to use other screens: allow it and the window opens on the second monitor. In other browsers a window opens for you to move to the monitor.
- Tap or click the window once for full screen.
The window gets everything from the cash desk in the same browser, even without a connection. If you close the cash desk, after 20 seconds the screen goes back to its waiting page and shows Cash desk not connected at the bottom. On this computer brings back the same window.
With an iPad, a tablet or a phone
- On the cash desk press Customer screen, then On another device. A QR and a six-character code appear, valid for 5 minutes.
- On the device scan the QR with the camera, or open
festivio.it/clientein the browser and type the code. - When the device is connected the cash desk shows, for example, iPad connected, and the device asks you to turn it to the customer: tap Go full screen.
The device stays connected to that cash desk while the cash desk session is valid, at most 24 hours. If it sleeps or loses the network it reconnects on its own and shows Not connected at the bottom meanwhile. Each cash desk has one device: connecting another disconnects the previous one. To disconnect it earlier press Customer screen, then Disconnect.
On an iPad you can add the page to the Home Screen, so it opens without Safari's bars. Add it before connecting: the icon keeps its own storage, separate from Safari, so open it from the icon and type the code there.
The screen stays on while the page is open, in browsers that allow it. It works in landscape and portrait.
The screen's language
The screen starts in the cash desk's language. To change it press Customer screen and pick Italiano or English under Screen language: the screen switches at once, whether it is a window on this computer or another device, without connecting it again. The customer cannot change it from the screen. The cash desk keeps the choice when you reload the page.
What the customer sees
| When | On the screen |
|---|---|
| No order | The same slides as the venue screen, with the event's QR: first Next time, order from your phone while online sales are open, then the announcement, How it works and the menu |
| The cashier adds items | The customer's ticket with the event's artwork: each item appears with quantity and price. On the stub, the organization's logo at the top (its name when there is no logo), then Items with the number of pieces, the Fees if any, and the Total |
| Cash payment | The total, the Received amount picked on the cash desk, and the Change |
| Card terminal or card payment | Pay on the card terminal or Pay by card, a card moving to the reader, and the total |
| Card declined on the cash desk's phone | Payment failed and Try again or pay another way., until you press Try again or pick another method, or for a few seconds |
| Payment link sent | The items, the total and We sent you a link to pay. Open it from your email. Never the email address or the link |
| Payment link paid | Paid and Your tickets are in your email. when the order has tickets |
| Sale done | The same ticket with Paid, and the Keep them on your phone QR in place of the total |
| Sale to a customer with a Festivio account | Paid and Already in your tickets, no QR: the tickets are already in their account |
The logo is the one in Settings > Account. A PNG on a transparent background looks best: the screen draws it straight on the dark background, in white if the logo is dark. A colour logo with black lettering shows on a light tile, so the lettering stays readable. An image with its own background shows in a rounded tile.
If you switch to Show the pass on the cash desk, the screen shows that QR instead. It never shows both.
The sale's QR stays until the customer opens it on their phone (the screen says On your phone and Have a good night: you can serve the next one), until you start the next order, or for 3 minutes at most. Pressing New order on the cash desk does not remove it: the customer has time to scan it.
The payment link stays on the screen after New order too, until the customer pays, until you cancel it, until you add an item to the next order, or for 5 minutes at most.
An item to suggest
While you build the order, the screen can show a suggestion under the items, for example Add to your order Gin tonic with its price. On the cash desk the same suggestion appears under the order, next to Suggest: if the customer says yes, tap it and the item goes into the order. The X removes it.
It is the same pick as the extras offered before online payment: the items most often bought with the ones in the order and the ones you chose to offer in Items. One per order, only among the items this cash desk sells and has available, never one already in the order. It does not show during payment, for a Table order or on a preorder. If you turn off Offer extras before payment in the event's settings, it does not show at the cash desk either.
The screen never shows the customer's name or email, the cash desk's or the staff's names, or other sales. During a Table order it stays on its waiting page.
