Linking card readers to receipts
Link every iPhone that takes cards to your fiscal receipts, on the Agenzia delle Entrate portal.
Since 1 January 2026, a business that certifies its takings (corrispettivi) with a cash register (registratore telematico) or with the Agenzia delle Entrate's web procedure Documento Commerciale online must link every electronic payment instrument it uses to it (law 207/2024, art. 1, paragraphs 74-77). The link is made on the Fatture e Corrispettivi portal.
An iPhone that takes payments with Tap to Pay on iPhone is a physical POS: the Agenzia delle Entrate counts SoftPOS apps on a smartphone as physical POS. Each iPhone is linked on its own, with its own terminal ID.
Bank transfers are excluded. If you certify every sale only with an invoice, no link is needed.
Who does it
It depends on who issues the receipts.
- Festivio issues them (see Fiscal receipts). Festivio issues them through the Documento Commerciale online procedure, with your Fisconline credentials. For this procedure the holder of the VAT number makes the link: it cannot be delegated to an accountant or another intermediary.
- You use your own cash register. An intermediary with the Accreditamento e censimento dispositivi delegation can also make the link.
The details to enter
In Festivio they are under Settings > In-person payments, in the POS-RT link section. They are the details Stripe gives for its POS:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Acquirer | Stripe Technology Europe, Limited |
| Acquirer tax code | 97979220155 |
| Acquirer seat | Abroad (Estero on the portal) |
| Contract number | Your Stripe account ID. Only the owner sees it. |
| Terminal ID | The iPhone's serial number. |
The serial number is in the Devices table on the same page, in the Serial number column, with Copy next to it. It appears after the phone's first connection; until then the table shows After the first connection.
The portal also asks for the address of the premises where you use the POS. Dispositivo ambulante (mobile device) is only for a register that is always used on the move and cannot be attributed to specific premises.
Deadline
An iPhone is linked between the 6th and the last working day of the second month after the month of its first payment. If it first takes a payment in October 2026, it is linked between 6 and 31 December 2026.
In the Devices table, First payment shows the date of each iPhone's first card payment, with the period to link it in: for example Link between 6 and 31 December 2026. Before any payment it shows After the first payment.
The same deadlines apply when a link changes or when you stop using a POS, for example after Revoke: in that case you remove the link and enter the end date.
The penalty for a POS that is not linked is €1,000 to €4,000, as for a cash register that is not installed (law 207/2024, art. 1, paragraph 75).
Linking an iPhone
If Festivio issues your receipts:
- Sign in to Fatture e Corrispettivi with SPID, CIE or CNS and choose the VAT number's profile, not the one for you as a private person.
- Open the Documento Commerciale online procedure.
- Open Collegamento dispositivi POS. If the link is not there, you first need to be accredited as a merchant (esercente) through the Accreditamento service.
- Choose the POS from the list. If it is not there, add it by hand with the details in the table above, contract number included.
- Enter the address of the premises where you use the POS.
- Confirm.
Repeat for every iPhone in the Devices table.
