Discount codes

Create a discount code, choose its events, dates and usage limit, and what happens at checkout.

A discount code takes a percentage or a fixed amount off the order total. The buyer enters it at Festivio's online checkout. The other features are on Festivio for organizers.

Create a code

  1. Open Settings, then Discount codes.
  2. Press Create discount code. A panel opens.
  3. In Code type the code, for example SUMMER20, or press Generate for a random 10-character code. Letters become uppercase; besides letters and numbers, hyphens and underscores are allowed.
  4. In Name (optional) you can add a label only you see.
  5. In Discount type choose Percentage or Fixed amount, then type the Value. For a fixed amount, also choose the Currency.
  6. If needed, set Valid from and Valid until. Without dates the code is always valid.
  7. In Max uses type the limit. Empty means unlimited.
  8. Under Event scope, with All events ticked the code works for every event of the organization. Untick it to choose the events.
  9. Press Create discount code at the bottom of the panel.
The Create discount code panel: Code ESTATE20 with Generate, Name (optional), Discount type Percentage and Value 20, Valid from and Valid until, Max uses 40, the Active switch, Event scope with All events ticked, Cancel and Create discount code.

Each code is unique within your organization. A fixed amount code works only for events in its currency.

Stripe does not need to be connected: a code made before works at once on free orders, and on paid orders from when Stripe is connected.

The list of codes

For each code the list shows Value, Events, Period, Usage and whether it is Active or Off.

Settings, Discount codes: Create discount code and four codes with Code, Name, Value, Events, Period, Usage and Active. ESTATE20 at 20% on 2 events from 1 to 20 June, used 12 of 40; STAFFAURORA at 100% and SOCI5 at 5 EUR on all events; FEST2026 Off. Each row has Copy code, Edit and Delete.

Usage counts completed orders with that code and, if you set a limit, out of how many, for example 12 of 40.

  • An open checkout with the code holds one use while it can still be paid. If the payment does not go through, the use is freed.
  • A refund does not give the use back.

From the code's menu:

  • Copy code copies the code.
  • Edit changes the name, dates, max uses, events and the Active switch. Code, type and value cannot change after creation. With Active off, the code does not work until you turn it back on.
  • Delete stops the code at once. Orders that already used it stay as they are. This cannot be undone.

At checkout

The buyer opens Have a discount code?, types the code and presses Apply. Upper and lower case make no difference. The summary shows the code applied and how much it takes off, and a Discount row.

  • Each order takes one code.
  • The discount applies to the order total: tickets, drinks and extras, food and bundles, including any service fee.
  • A fixed amount larger than the total brings the order to zero.
  • A code that brings the order to zero makes it free, and the order follows the free ticket rules. A 100% code is how to run a guest list.
  • A code that is off, outside its dates, used up or not valid for the event is refused before payment with This code is not valid for this event. Check it and try again.

There is no link that applies the code: the buyer types it.

Stripe's payment form has no field for codes, so promotion codes made in the Stripe dashboard do not work.

Where codes do not apply

  • On tables with a deposit or a minimum spend.
  • With Book and pay at the desk: the booking does not carry the discount.
  • At the Cash desk, at a door station and on payment links sent from the cash desk.

Where you see discounts

  • In Orders, the Discount column and the Total discounts figure. The order detail shows Discount. The order records the discount amount, not which code was used.
  • In Analytics, Marketing view, Discount codes: for each code used on the event its uses, the discount and the net sales, counting only that event's orders. In Details, Discounts with the share of item prices.

The buyer sees the discount in the confirmation email, on the Discount applied line.

Who can do it

Creating, editing and deleting discount codes is for the Owner and Manager roles. See Team and roles.
