Test orders and test mode
Create a test order to see what buyers receive, and try the scanner without touching real tickets.
A test order is like a real purchase without paying: you get the ticket, open it in the wallet and scan it at the gate.
Create a test order
You need the Owner or Manager role.
- Open the event and choose Event overview in the side menu.
- In the Test orders card, press Create a test order. The same button is also in the share kit that opens with Share.
The test order is completed straight away and is in your name.
It works on an event that is still a draft, before Stripe is connected, and with items that are not on sale yet.
Each event can have at most 5 test orders at a time. Deleting a test order frees a place.
What a test order does
- You receive the confirmation email, with Test: at the start of the subject.
- The ticket appears in your account with its QR code, as it would for a buyer.
- On the wallet pass, test items are marked TEST.
- Nothing is paid, Stripe is not used and Festivio takes no commission.
- No fiscal receipt is ever issued.
- It does not use up availability: the places on sale stay the same.
- Test food does not get a pickup number.
- It does not appear in the event's orders, the dashboard figures, reports, exports or the customer list.
- It does not count towards the sales limit before the Festivio review.
- It is not refunded: you delete it.
Delete test orders
The Test orders card lists the event's test orders, newest first, with who made them and what they contain.
- Delete removes one test order.
- Delete all removes every test order of the event at once, after a confirmation. It shows when there are at least two test orders.
The order's tickets and their scans go with it. The wallet pass updates by itself.
If you delete the event, its test orders are deleted too.
Try the scanner
A test ticket gets nobody in: a normal scanner refuses it. To scan it, put the scanner in test mode.
- Open the event's scanner. See Entry scanning.
- Turn on Test mode. TEST MODE appears at the top of the screen and stays until you turn it off.
- Scan the test ticket as you would a real one.
Only an Owner or a Manager can turn on test mode. Someone who uses the scanner only through a staff link cannot.
You can also turn it on for a staff scanner: on the event's Scanners page, use the Test mode switch next to the station. Whoever is using it sees the TEST MODE band straight away.
| Scanner | Ticket | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | Real | Works as always. |
| Normal | Test | Refused. A test ticket gets nobody in. |
| Test mode | Test | Works like a real ticket. |
| Test mode | Real | Refused, and the real ticket is not touched. |
When a pass holds both real and test items, the scanner lists all of them: the ones it cannot use are greyed out with the reason under the name (Test ticket: scans only in test mode, or Real ticket: the scanner is in test mode) and cannot be selected. If a confirm leaves any out, the scanner says which and why, one per line.
Rehearsal scans, including refused ones, appear in Scan history marked as test. They are left out of the event's statistics.
Turn Test mode off before the doors open. While it is on, the scanner refuses every real ticket.
Run the rehearsal again
A test ticket that has been scanned counts as used, like a real one. To rehearse again:
- Open the event dashboard.
- In the Test orders card, press Reset scans.
Every scanned test ticket of the event becomes usable again, and the wallet pass updates. A test ticket you cancelled by hand stays cancelled.
